What we do
One of Ireland's most friendly and intimate venues for live music, theatre and cinema. The space is the old courthouse dating back to 1843 set in the heart of Tinahely town. The Courthouse has a certain spirit that makes it a perfect space for performance and a unique experience for both the artists and the audience. The Courthouse had fallen into disrepair and disuse by the 1980’s. With the aid of grants from FAS (the Training and Employment Authority) and local fundraising the courthouse was restored and opened as a centre for arts, culture and heritage in January, 1996.
Since then the Courthouse Arts Centre has become a premier venue in the South East and maintains a dynamic and vibrant arts and cultural programme, promoting excellence in arts practice across all forms. Our programme includes a mix of high quality performance including: Theatre, Dance, Music, Film, Visual Arts, Comedy, Literature and an Education / Outreach programme. We are also committed to offering emerging artists a platform to showcase their work across all forms.
We welcome visitors and locals alike to sample our varied programme. We also welcome and invite artists and touring performers to think of us as an exciting presentation space for their work..
