At the Courthouse Arts Centre we aim to encourage creativity, self-expression and development. As part of our ancillary activities, we host education programmes, often by inviting or allowing external facilitators to use the space for classes and workshops. Ongoing and past programmes have included painting, songwriting, filmmaking and life drawing. While our emphasis is on arts and media, workshops have included entrepreneurial clinics, gardening and self- sufficiency, and yoga. The Market Square Building is also available for workshops and classes subject to availability. All enquiries should be directed to the Artistic Director.

For absolute beginners, a weekly course in conversational Irish (for adults) facilitated by local gaelgoir (Irish-speaker) Tara Murphy. Classes will be fun and informal, for Irish and non-Irish natives, with little or no knowledge of the language. Weekly sessions will include tea and coffee. This course is aimed at a wide variety of people and is likely to be attended by those of us who have forgotten the Irish we learnt at school, as well as those completely new to the language. It will also provide a great opportunity to meet people in the area and have some craic. All welcome!

TRAMPS AND POETS
YOUTH DRAMA WORKSHOPS

Back for a new season, our resident young people's drama group meets on Mondays under the leadership of Aisling Flitton.

Aisling Flitton has a diploma in Theatre Studies from Trinity College, Dublin, and has worked as a professional actor. She started teaching drama with Act One Drama School in Dublin in 2004 and has facilitated youth drama groups all over the country. Aisling teaches part time with the Gaiety School of Acting and she runs workshops in local schools. Aisling is a member of the National Association of Youth Drama.

As an experienced drama facilitator for children and young people, Aislin places a strong emphasis on development and encourages each child to find their own means of creative expression. Using drama as a tool for building confidence and communication skills rather than taking the spotlight, the weekly sessions culminate in a showcase for families without the pressure of "putting on a show". Aisling is available to speak to parents on an ongoing basis about their child's development and needs.

The Courthouse Arts Centre has a child protection policy in place and seeks to instill in all participants a sense of mutual respect, fostering an atmosphere of equality and awareness of others, as well as creativity and fun.

Please note, the 8-week term must be paid for in advance. Fees: 4-7 yrs old €5 per class (€40 for the term); older children €8 per class (€64 for the full term). Payment can be brought on first class Monday 8th February. Cheques payable to Tinahely Courthouse Ltd.

Places must be reserved in advance, and will be allocated on a strictly first-come first-served basis. Call now to enrol your child: 0402-38529 or e-mail us at bookings@tinahely-courthouse.ie
